Yellowjackets
On May 30, the Tatuza stage will host Yellowjackets for the first time
The legendary jazz-fusion band Yellowjackets are now well into their fifth decade and continue their musical journey with unstoppable energy. The group, which has left a significant mark on the sound of contemporary jazz, still creates new music with the same passion while constantly exploring new directions.
Their 27th album, “Fasten Up,” released on February 21, 2025, perfectly reflects this spirit of forward motion and renewal. The album’s title comes from an energetic composition by bassist Dane Alderson and feels both like an invitation and a warning: get ready, fasten your seatbelts - Yellowjackets are back at full speed.
Throughout their history, the band’s music has been known for blending different styles and influences - jazz, fusion, funk, and modern improvisation. This constant spirit of experimentation and musical exploration is what has kept the band fresh and relevant for decades.
Today, the band’s lineup brings together both a founding member and musicians who have played key roles in the story of Yellowjackets over the years:
Russell Ferrante - Piano / Keyboards
Graeme Blevins - Saxophone
Dane Alderson - Bass
Will Kennedy - Drums
