Responsible Waste Management at The Telegraph Hotel

At The Telegraph Hotel, sustainability is integrated into the way we operate every day. Our waste management approach is guided by the principles of a circular economy: reduce, replace and reuse.

Across our restaurants, we have replaced conventional single-use plastic items with alternatives made from wood, paper and other environmentally responsible materials. Paper cups, stirrers, straws and takeaway packaging are all selected with this approach in mind.

In our guest rooms, small single-use hygiene packages have been replaced with reusable and refillable containers, while hygiene accessories are made from wood or other eco-friendly materials

Plastic water bottles have also been completely removed from the hotel and its restaurants and replaced with glass bottles.

Giving Glass a New Life

To support more efficient recycling, The Telegraph Hotel operates an on-site glass crushing machine. Empty glass bottles are collected separately, crushed into smaller pieces and then transferred to a partner company for recycling and the production of new glass products.

On average, approximately 1,000 half-litre glass bottles are processed on-site every week.

Reducing the Volume of Paper and Cardboard Waste

Cardboard and paper waste is collected separately and compressed using a dedicated compactor. This process can reduce waste volume by approximately 50–90%, helping us use storage space more efficiently while also making transportation for recycling easier and more effective.

Small Actions, Lasting Impact

These practices are part of our daily operations and our wider commitment to responsible hospitality.

Every glass bottle recycled, every cardboard box compressed and every plastic item replaced with a more sustainable alternative represents another step towards reducing waste and operating more responsibly.

At The Telegraph Hotel, we believe that meaningful change is built through consistent actions, creating a more thoughtful hospitality experience today while contributing to a more sustainable future.
